If you and your soon-to-be ex-spouse can put aside your emotions and mutually agree on a plan for child custody, parenting time, child support and property division, you can save thousands of dollars on attorney fees. The same is true for paternity cases when you and the other parent can agree what is in your child's best interest regarding custody and parenting time. You're also likely to be happier with your agreement than if you were to spend many months litigating the case and then having a judge decide all of these issues for you.
Advantage of Uncontested Dissolutions versus Contested Dissolutions:
- Fast. Most uncontested dissolutions we do take 35-45 days from the date we file the initial Petition for Dissolution. Missouri has a 30-day waiting period and during that time we work on and file our settlement documents. Paternity cases don't have a waiting period so we can get them finalized quickly.
- Less Expensive. We offer flat-fees so that you know upfront what your case is going to cost.
- Ownership of decisions. You and your spouse or other parent make decisions, not a judge. In my experience, divorcing spouses and unmarried parents who settle cases by agreement are much happier than a judge-decided case.
- Less Time off of Work for You. Most of the time you do not have to ever appear in court
